2011 US Sailing Championships

Please take note of the Notice of Race posted for the Men's Championship for the Mallory Cup.  This is a great opportunity to take part in one of US Sailing's Championship events, which will be staged in our own area, in October at Lake Norman, NC.  But first, you get to come to Charleston in July for the Semi finals, and sail your way into a berth at the finals.  Only one winner advances.  Again, this event is in our own back yard (area D), and with a first class venue, why not show your stuff and get the chance to be in the  Mallory's finals.  The event will be sailed in Charleston Harbor, using the College of Charleston's J-22's, while the finals will be in Ultimate 20's.  Remember, the big bonus really comes, when, as a member of SAYRA, you can use the Helen Hanley Fund to cover most of the cost of this event, and then again for the finals, should you be the winning yacht racer.  Don't hesitate, put it on the busy sailing calendar now, and become a US Sailing Champ!  This doesn't come around so close that often.

Notice of Race for the Area D Elimination for US Sailing Women's Championship for the Adam's Cup

Also coming up in Area D, are the Junior Championship semi-finals, for the Sears Bemis Smythe Trophies.  This will be at the Atlanta Yacht Club, on June 3 - 5, 2011.  The Sears will be sailed in Thistles, the Bemis in 420's, and the Smythe in Laser Radials.  Contact Samson Vasques for information @ samsonvasquez@gmail.com, or phone 228-323-1336.
