Preliminary 2008 Championship Calendar
US SAILING Youth Championships
On Sat., June 7, Lake Norman Yacht Club (LNYC) hosted this year's quarterfinal elimination for SAYRA's entries to the US Junior Doublehanded Sailing Championship. The winners, Dillon Paiva and Morgan Grobin, representing Carolina Sailing Club (CSC) in Raleigh, NC, will represent SAYRA at the Area D semifinals hosted by Coral Reef Yacht Club in Miami, FL in July. Lake Lanier Sailing Club's (LLSC) JD Reddaway & Michael Reddaway were presented with the Shipshape award, and LNYC's Brad Milliken was awarded the Sportsmanship award. No entries were received for the US Junior Singlehanded Sailing championship. One entry was received for the US Junior Triplehanded Sailing championship; Nick Cumbie, Chris Jackson, and Kyle Stadele of Lake Lanier Sailing Club will represent SAYRA at the Area D semifinals at CRYC in July. U.S. Junior Doublehanded Championship The U.S. Junior Doublehanded Sailing Championship allows junior sailors to compete as 2-person teams in boats that are familiar to nearly every teenaged junior sailor. The qualifiers and finals will be sailed in Club 420’s. http://www.ussailing.org/championships/youth/usjr/double/ U.S. Junior Singlehanded Championship The U.S. Junior Singlehanded Sailing Championship provides an opportunity for singlehanded junior sailors to compete in a ladder series event starting at the Regional Sailing Association level, moving up to Area and then National levels. Nancy Leiter Clagett Trophy This U.S. Junior Women’s Singlehanded Championship provides an opportunity for junior women sailors to compete at the national level. It is an open competition (no pre-qualification). It is an open (no pre-qualification required) doublehanded fleet racing competition for ages 13 to 18. The U.S. Women’s Sailing Championship is a ladder event intended to allow amateur women sailors to pit their skills against others from all over the United States. It is a great way for women to sail against other great sailors, from all over SAYRA or all over the nation, and to have a great time, getting to meet these women, and learn from them. http://ussailing.org/championships/adult/women/uswsc/ U.S. Men’s Sailing Championship The U.S. Men’s Sailing Championship is a ladder event that provides teams skippered by men to compete at a national level, either in keelboats or centerboard boats, in alternating years. http://www.ussailing.org/championships/adult/usmsc/ U.S. Match Racing Championship Prince of Wales Bowl The US Match Racing Championship for the Prince of Wales Bowl is a ladder event that builds teams’ unity and knowledge of the RRS.
