SAYRA Club of the Month

The Cape Fear Yacht Club was formed by those who appreciate boats and the water that floats them.  In 1992 they collaborated with a local restaurant to have a sailboat race on the Cape Fear River.  This was the beginning of the well known Rocket Regatta and the beginnings of a yacht club.  After a membership drive in 1994 the Cape Fear Yacht Club was formally begun.  As interest in the area in sailboat races grew the youth training program was inaugurated in 1996. 

The first clubhouse was opened in 2000 when the club took over a 2500 square foot building that had formerly been a restaurant.  Sailboat racing, cruising, and social events sparked even greater growth and in June 2006 the CFYC dedicated a beautiful new club house.
