Welcome to the SAYRA Race Management Information page. If you or your club has need of support in the RM area and you can not find it at this location, please send me an email at sailcora@aol.com and I will attempt to get it on the page. If you have a RM related question, chances are very good that someone else is having the same so this page will hopefully be of a benefit to all. This is usually the time of the year where we start thing about what do we need to do to prepare for next year’s events. We check our equipment, make repairs and order new and/or replacement parts and flags for the next season. Race management training should also be considered. SAYRA has an excellent group of persons who are qualified by US Sailing to provide instruction for those seeking qualification in Race Management. One major benefit is the insurance coverage that comes with the certification. Just because the club that is the organizing authority has insurance coverage does not necessarily mean that you as part of the race management team have coverage. Starting 1 January 2009 the newest version of the Racing Rules of Sailing 2009 – 20012 will take affect. The following is a list of experienced SAYRA race management persons who are willing to travel outside their normal area to help in other’s regattas. If none are available then contact me and I will see if there are any others that are willing and able. If you are having issues finding good race officers then race management training may be the answer.
Find a Race Officer http://www.ussailing.org/judges/OfficialsSearch.asp?Official=Racing%20Officials If your club would like to host a RM seminar and you are not sure what needs to be done, you can get information at http://www.ussailing.org/racemgt/ The following list those who are qualified to teach the Basic Race Management Seminar by US Sailing: John Bonds Mount Pleasant SC For the Advanced Race Management class, John Bonds is qualified to teach this two day class and is required for Regional and above qualification.
