US Sailing Instructor Courses:
Thinking of attending a training course?
Stay up to date on US Sailing instructor courses offered for 2009 (www.ussailing.org/training). SAYRA dates have not been added to the calendar yet, but we know they’re on the way- including a powerboat instructor course hosted at LNYC that will be a very exciting opportunity! Financial assistance through the Helen Hanley Memorial Fund is available to qualified applicants in need, so don’t miss out! (www.sayra-sailing.com/pages/hhanley.htm )
Thinking of organizing a training event at your club?
Training is a critical part of obtaining and maintaining a high-level program at your club. Level I certification, the most common in our area, ensures that SAYRA's junior sailing programs and adult classes are educational, encouraging, and held to high safety standards. But the training doesn't stop there- you might be surprised at the depth of training programs developed for US Sailing (www.ussailing.org/training). Feel free to also contact the US Sailing Regional Training Coordinators that are in the SAYRA area: Mike Stewart (SVBreeze@bellsouth.net), and Kathryn Wilkinson (KWilkinson56@yahoo.com)
Other Training Opportunities:
Though US Sailing hosts a wide variety of training programs, we’re always open in SAYRA to new ideas for types of training opportunities. If you’ve got an idea of an event you’d like to host at your club, let us know so we can help get it off the ground and help spread the word throughout SAYRA! Just shoot an email to SAYRA Training Committee Chair (BentonSails@gmail.com).
