SAYRA Club of the Month

Hobcaw Yacht Club is located in Christ Church Parish, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina on Hobcaw Point overlooking the Wando River. The Club was organized in 1953 with twenty-eight members and today our membership is close to the five hundred cap.  We are proud of our “down home” atmosphere and always try and make visitors feel right at home.

Club facilities consist of a large Clubhouse, swimming pool, picnic areas, boatyard with boat ramps and concrete docks. Activities sponsored in conjunction with the Club are the Swim team, Garden Club, Book Club and a Youth Sailing Program.

In 1966 Hobcaw offered a Junior Sailing Class for the first time and now the club trains on average 100 youth sailors each summer. 

Hobcaw Yacht Club held its first Regatta in 1962 with sixty boats participating. We are starting to plan for our fiftieth regatta celebration which will be in the summer of 2012.
