SAYRA Judge In Training (JIT) Program
The purpose of the SAYRA Judge program is to develop personnel within the SAYRA area who can confidently perform as a Judge at any SAYRA club and can progress to US Sailing Judge certification after serving at least three years in the program. The SAYRA Judge Program will be composed of the following basic steps:
- The SAYRA Judge Candidate will submit an application to the SAYRA JIT (Judge In Training) Program chairman. The Commodore or the Vice Commodore of the applicant’s club must approve the application.
- The Program Chairman will approve the application and assign a Judge-Mentor to the candidate. The Mentor will be a certified US Sailing judge within the SAYRA area.
- The applicant will then proceed through the training program under the guidance of his/her mentor. When he/she thinks they are ready, they will be given a written test. If they pass the test and all other qualifications, they will be recognized as a SAYRA Judge and thereby considered able to serve as a judge in any event within the SAYRA area except those events that require USSA Certified Judges.
- A SAYRA Judge’s activity in the SAYRA program can be applied to the US Sailing minimum requirements for Judge certification.
To enter the program, you need to send a completed application to the SAYRA Judges Committee for review and approval. This form is available from the SAYRA Judges Committee chairperson or by uploading from this web site.
